Quick question about neutral..
I have a quick question.. I'll use a photo I found here on HT:
How do I put my transmission in nuetral? Is it all the way in, out or in the middle? I'm referring to the linkage part, where the bitch pin connects to.
I recently put everything back together and I just can't seem to shift into any gear, tightening the clutch cable lets me go into first but when i release the clutch pedal it grinds, the only thing I had doubts about was the shift rod.
Is it possible I put it in upside down? Or like my pops says, I may have left it in gear when I was rebuilding it, he says it's possible it could be in two gears at once, but I think he's referring to cars from back in his day... Anyways I just want to make sure I have the shift rod correctly connected before I drop the tranny again.

i'm no expert..
But you should be able to push and pull your shift linkage into gear.. the middle would be neutral.
When I was replacing a short shifter once, I got the old one out and needed to roll the car.. but had left it in first. So I reached under and grabbed the shift linkage and yanked it towards the rear of the car to put it in neutral.
