how do i fix my brake pedal when i press it it has to go so far down before it actually starts braking 92 civic hatch

 

Inspect the brakes, your rear shoes more than likely need adjustment. Provided you have not messed with the parking brake adjustment, your parking brake travel should be excessive as well.

If you have not done any work to the car recently, air is probably not likely.
