just got into an accident !!!
i was on my way to pick up my gf when this lady turned left into my rear pass 1/4 panel and dragged all the way to the bumper. man i looked at her car's damage and all she had was a cracked corner lens and a minor dent. it looks like the whole rear 1/4 panel will be replaced cuz the dent spreads across the whole panel, a piece of the pass tail light flew off, the side molding flew off, and the rear bumper is twisted and other little things...we'll see on wednesday when i take it in for an estimate hopefully i will have to replace the whole bumper so i can get a rear RS WW bumper, new taillight, and the alignment is way off at the front for some reason and the pass rear wheel has major negative camber...
i'm just glad no one was hurt and that my girlfriend wasn't with me...
and man when i think more about it, i realize that my driving skills are pretty good when it comes to situations like that. i mean when she hit me, the back end lost control throwing me sideways going forward for about 30-40 feet braking and counter steering without spinning out. felt like i was drifting and good thing there was no other cars around us or else i would've been smashed
she admitted it was her fault so thats a good thing

oh man my lower back is starting to hurt now but i already told the insurance company i'm ok.
you guys think i have a good chance of getting that WW RS rear bumper ???
my dad just told me that it might be a write off cuz of the damage done but i don't think the frame is twisted....
also the rear is pretty low should i raise it up a little cuz the tire rubs the indented fender when the car dips

depending on the hit you took you might really be in some pain tomorrow! if she got ticketed and you feel really sore tomorrow, GO TO THE DOCTOR. her insurance should pay for your medical bills, plus some pain and suffering.
look at your control arm mounts to the unibody, see if they are damaged, that should tell you if the frame is actually straight still. a new quarter panel sounds like a must, but first thing's first, check that chassis, homeboy. (ill rhyme skiLLz, yO!)
thanks for the advice. yeah i'll take a look at it later maybe tomorrow hopefully the mount is ok. if it gets written off...how much do you guys think its worth ?
the car is basically stock with these done to it:
(91 civic dx HB)
2 month old paint job
coilovers
dynomax super turbo muffler
clear corners
90 A6 motor and 88 Si tranny swap 2 weeks ago
pioneer head unit
91 prelude rims (one gen2 DA rim)
and thats it nothing major
and before i take it for inspection/estimate should i raise it up a bit and throw the steelies on there cuz i don't want them to take the rims with it if they decide to write it off
what else should i take off just in case???

yah.....sorry to tell yah but they will probably total it! the rear quarter panel will be well over a 1000$ to replace plus paint and bumper and everything.....i bet they will total it out! then buy a new rex with the money that already has a wings west kit!

Get an estimate from a reputable shop (that charges $$$). Go to the insurance company and show them the estimate. Get a check from the insurance company that is near the amount from the shop. Be happy and get a full WW kit and paint with money for a swap or turbo.
I could've got all this. But dealed with the guy that hit me and only got 2500 out of it. He hit my 1/4 panel too and tried to run!!! Should've took it to the insurance, but didn't know any better.

i don't know i'm kinda confused on what to do...help me out here guys...oh yeah i live up in canada, maybe the rules are different?????

hey, im in canada too. i say take it to a shop, get an estimate on the car, then take it to the insurence and show them the estimate, cause i'd hate to have my insurence claim my car as totaled.
well i'll check with a wicked body shop around here for a repair estimate tomorrow then we'll see what happens when i take it to the insurance place. i don't think it'll be a write off cuz i looked and the frame doesn't seem to have been affected....
i don't know i need as much responses as possible i know people on here are smart and know a lot about insurance stuff and what the insurance people will try to do and stuff like that.... and it was totally the other parties fault
keep em coming guys!!

Remember this. The insurance adjuster is going to come out and look at the car. He's not looking out for you, he's looking out for the insurance company. When he comes, tell him that you want everything replaced with OEM factory parts, paint, pieces, everything. The dealership $$$ are friggin expensive. After you get the insurance quote, take it to the most expensive shop in your area for an inspection. Tell them you want stage 3 paint, OEM parts (Expensive), everything. It will probably be about $1-$1500 more than the insurances quote (This is what we did with my friends 98 Dakota, worked beautifuly). Take that estimate to the insurance company and show them. Also, tell them you're "unsure" of where you want it done yet, so they will cut you a check so you "can take it to any place you want" to get it fixed.
That's if it's fixable. If it isn't, GET RECEIPTS. FOR EVERYTHING. The new paintjob; the radio; the wheels; everything. If you don't have a receipt for something, go to a local performance shop (Better if you know them), slip em a $20 for a receipt for that brand new $900 Pioneer stereo unit... You see where I'm going with this?
After the car is totalled, you can then buy it back or let it go and grab it the second it hits the j/yards. Good luck with it; this is where insurance companies are actually fun.

you think its worth it to buy the car back even though its not repairable ??? would they sell it for a cheaper price??
i remembered dub204 who lives around my area is still selling a CRX from the states for $2500 cdn with an A6 motor and needs a lot of bodywork...i don't know...i love my car no matter what so hopefully they won't consider it as a write off.....

yeah i know what you mean....oh man i just pray to god that i don't lose my car...even my gf loves my car and she will get really upset if they write it off...she says its not gonna be the same with another civic...
All it takes to total a car is for the price to repaur it to be more than the worth of the car itself. Since most EF's blue book value isn't all that great, if we get into a wreck, we're pretty much screwed. All that the insurance company is liable for is paying you for the worth of the car, and in most cases, they'll give you some to compensate for some of the things you had done to it, but you HAVE TO have reciepts.
I had a wreck in a parking lot, didn't look that bad really, but all the body shops wanted over $3k to fix it, it wasn't my fault but I didn't even turn it in. My dad is an insurance man and he said they'd total it and I'd most deffinatly have a loss. This is like the insurance companies loop hole. The unibody wasn't tweaked at all, so i ended up fixing it all myself, sucked ***, but sometimes you just gotta suck it up.

i got some subs that i wanna get rid of can i throw them in the trunk and have it written off as well????
i just swapped an A6 motor and tranny a few weeks ago. am i allowed to take it out before they tow it away??? will they deduct any pay ????
