to those with aftermarket lsd's--special installation instructions?
i understand that the lsd has to be shimmed into the proper location, any instructions on how to do this? i assume a feeler guage is one necessity.
pickup a cheapy haynes manual and the instructions are in there for you.
its pretty easy to do, but the book has pictures as well as an explanation. if you have any questions post them up here!

just wondering, do you typically use the stock shims (i don't remember if my old tranny had any when i pulled it apart) or are others required?
you use stock shims, but the shims come in many different sizes. they go from 1.0mm to 1.75mm in 0.5mm increments...

ahhh, makes sense. would the shims work for an ls trans as well as a B16 trans, i think i would have to use ls shims for my s1 trans, for availability.
i am not sure about the LS shim or the B16 shim. if the OD is the same for either shim, then you should be ok.
