Need help diagnosing
I have an 88 crx with a B18a swap in it. It is cutting out and I am out of ideas of where to look next.
Symptom's:
Starts to sputter and dies out
Tach jumps around
May fire once every second or two
Ultimately stalls
The problem is intermittent, it may run for 30 miles just fine and then start to sputter and stall out. If it sits for an hour or so it will start right up again. It has been stalling more frequently. I have just replaced the alternator. I started it after sitting all night and let it idle for 45 minutes and couldn't get it to stall, I tried spraying the engine compartment with a hose to check the distributor, tried shaking the fuel pump and still couldn't get it to stall. Anyone have any ideas on where to go next?

my first thought is the distributor is starting to fail, especially with you mentioning the tach jumping around. it was awhile ago but i'm pretty sure before my dizzy died on my d16a6 it was doing something very similar.
