A friend of mine just finished a B20 swap and he was told that the shop installed a B16 tranny. We figured its a Y1...but his gearing is totally different from my Y1. He hits his redline, 7000 rpm at 115 mph only...he's really bummed about this because he almost got beat by a stock ZC...

His tranny is pretty high and short geared...it even looks like he's driving in 4 gears. Ls tranny is suppose to be longer than that...like lower rpm for higher mph.
whats the sticker on it say?
it could be a s1/j1 which is shorter geared than your y1, or
it could even be a jdm ys1 which is even shorter than a s1/j1

Hehehe...I think I read your post wrong
It is probably an S1/J1 or it might even be a YS1. These three transmissions have the tightest gearing for cable b series transmissions....
