Default Squeak in the steering column

I have a squeak that gets faster as I drive. It sounds like something in the column and I can't figure it out since it occurs going straight. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

It could be ball joint or steering tie rod problems. I have seen a totally rusted out inner tie rod squeak like what you are describing.

alternatively, i have also seen the plastic shroud around the steering column rub against the steering wheel and squeak too.. so there are a couple ideas.
