building lsv have some questions
i been reading on what to put in my lsv to make it reliabe and i see using gsr water pump and oil pump and i was just wondering why what makes them better then the stock ls water pump and oil pump?
yeah go for it man build the lsvtec....and the ls water pump and oil pump are smaller than the gsr's propellers. you want your ls block to be running cooler and pumping a higher rate of oil pressure to your head since you would be using an oil line to be feeding the beast for vtec. all i can say is make sure you have your head b16 or gsr head whatever you go for to have the oil port/hole on the bottom of the head to be plugged up, take it to a shop and have them do so. i just got my b20v all put back together only to find out that my oil port wasnt plugged with a pin/metal circle. to explain it more in depth its the port hole that the oil goes through from a vtec block to vtec head, but since your using a non vtec block you would need to plug that port hole so oil doesnt pass through it anymore, hence thats what the oil line kit is for your oil source! do it right the first time no half assing it man
go with a p28 ecu...alotta peeps out there running them, and as far as the gsr pumps go get them the same year as your bottom end (b18a or b18b) which ever you have
All OBD2 b-series use the same oil pump(b18b, b18c1/5, b20, b16a)

Doesn't matter what ecu you run because it'll need to be chipped and tuned regardless.
Might aswell get a cheap non vtec P06 and get a vtec conversion kit from xenocron

yoo bro last thing just gotta say if you do get a b16 head or gsr head whatever it may be...you should think bout fly cutting your pistons so you wont be slapping the valves with your pistons. its a fact man i recently just found out that you have to get this done in order to make your engine last awhile. and its a damn good idea to get the ARP main stud kit for your bottom end, on your ls engine. since the bolts that hold your crank on are equivalant or the same ones used on single cam engines, have the same tensile strength.
