Default Tires rubbing on plastic things in wheel well..

What do you call that plastic thing that covers the wheel well? My EK is lowered with Koni Yellows and H&R springs and I have 205/50/15 tires and my front end is rubbing on these plastic things. How can I remedy this without raising the ride height? If I ignore this, what are the negative effects? If I lose this plastic thing or tear a hole in them, will it be bad? If it will just result in more tread wear, I'm not that concerned.. and maybe if the tire loses a bit of tread the rubbing will go away? It's not rubbing too hard, it doesn't rub ALL the time, but most of the time. I notice it especially when there's dips in the road. What if I stiffened up my shocks a bit more? The front end is 1 full turn from full stiff. The rear is pretty much full stiff and it doesn't rub.

EDIT: I just checked it and it's only rubbing on the side about 2 inches in length and half inch in width..

I wouldn't be so quick to remove them. They can help keep rocks and such that get kicked up by your tires and keep them from hitting the insides of your fenders and denting them. They are just plastic, it won't hurt your tires if they rub, only thing that will happen is you will eventually wear a hole in the fender liner. About your only options are get smaller tires, raise the car some, remove the liners, or ignore the rubbing. You could try trimming the liners where the tires rub them, but depending on how bad they rub it may be easier just taking them out.

its called a fender liner. you dont really lose out on anything if you remove them IMO

they are usually there just to protect the inner wall from build up of dirt and debris, and gravel etc

I talked to my mechanic about it and he said that if I remove the fender liner water can get in there and screw up electronics and u can get rust..maybe it would be better if I let the tire tear a small hole in it...I really don't wanna raise it up cuz the next perch for the konis is stock height..

My tires and rims are brand new too so I really don't wanna change em right now..the ad08 don't come in a smaller profile that would decrease the overall width of my wheels. I really love the tires too soi don't wanna get another set ESP since it's not rubbing that bad..

I'm thinking maybe h&r sport springs or something to raise the ride height a little bit but I hear they suck.. I'll stiffen the konis a little bit and I'll see if that helps since it doesn't rub all the time and it usually rubs when there's dips and bumps...

A razor knife will cut the plastic liner like nothing. Just trim it then.
