Spun bearing decisions
Long story short, i spun a bearing in my ls 2 weeks ago..i found a good deal on a longblock so i picked it up and dropped it in the car. Ran strong for about 4 days and i was on the interstate going about 80 and it started knocking like the other motor. Took it home and sure enough spun a rod bearing ]:
Oil level was perfect in both motors..is this just a coincidence or could something else make this happen?
cause im scared to put another motor in the car and this happen AGAIN.
crank is too bad to be machined, and there was alottt of metal shavings when i pulled the pan so im afraid to buy a crank kit and have someone put it in and there be metal shavings throughout my motor and then something else happen.
What is the best thing to do in my situation?

wow id say that was bad luck. did u open up the motor when u got it and look inside befor u put it in?
If i were you I would just buy another one and just deal. dont reuse anything and replace the oil pump, head gasket, timing belt, ect.(ya know the normal **** that should just be replaced sense its easy when the motors out) befor you put the new motor in.
I hope everything works out and let me know what you decide. I actualy have a crank, PR4 pistons and rods, and a cleaned and checked head if your interested in rebuilding your motor. But seriously i would just get another one. LS's are cheap enough.

Going cheap is just gonna put you on the same boat as b4..... Make sure you drop the pan this time and do a full inspection, check the sleeves and look for cross hatching on the cylinder walls since its been "recently rebuilt"... That block has to look flawless if its been rebuilt. Even if its run about 10,000-20,000 miles, it should still look clean.
