OK, I've been looking on ebay for a replacement engine for my high mileage, 240k, 99 Cr-V. There is a seller who has engines that claim to have less than 35k miles on them. What do you all think? This sounds too good to be true, which makes me extremely cautious. Does anyone have experience here?

uhh, well, if theres a VIN, you can carfax it......Everyone and their mom says they have 40k miles on their motor. There's no way to tell for sure.

 

youre talking about the JDM ones b20b...thats a hit and miss...no way to tell it..
some of them offer warranty..get the one with at least a warranty...

 

weve bought several motors on ebay... theres 2 sellers thats near our state(NJ)
and we havent had any bad experience from them.. we tend to just pick up the
motor and see whats still on their storage... also we have several deals with one
seller from canada.. thats were weve bought several typeR long block and never
had any issue with it... btw, most of them will give you only 3mos. warranty but
you could negotiate your way to make it atleast a year.....

 

I bought my JDM D15B Vtec this way 4 years ago, it's still running like new, had no issues and it was dirt cheap.

 

is there any gsr longblocks on ebay from said sellers or does anyone know of a website that isnt going to charge me over $2000 for it?
