Aftermarket sunroof leaky...
Hey guys, thanks in advance for any help.
Recap: Bought a 97 HX just to have a second car (beater, daily driver) four years ago this coming labor day. The car has been great, except it has an aftermarket sunroof. I'm guessing the sunroof leaked for the previous owner as it's been sealed on top and doesn't work (the motor churns, but it doesn't move). A bit of water from time to time gets to the trunk. I generally ignored it, but water keeps seeping to the trunk and this year it's been getting worse. I initially thought it was coming in from the wheel well or the trunk weather stripping, but when I drive, it leaks less. Parked, leaks more.
So today, I took the liner down (raining today) and sure enough there was a considerable amount of moisture in the liner. I also found some water under the back seat (no standing water, just soaked into the seat. I ripped apart the sunroof as much as possible (will post a pic later, cell phone is dead). and it's down to the plastic molding, glass, and weather stripping. The remaining parts are out and in the trash (I had to break it apart since I couldn't get to it from the top w/o cutting the glass out. Don't want to do that in case I need to park the car outside).
My question is two parts:
1) The place that put in the sunroof cut out the bracket for the dome light at the ends (just a sharp edge sticks out from the side). Should I just let dangle in the replacement headliner (once I get one) or should I somehow mount it up? Will show up when I post the pic.
2) How should I do the final fix for the sunroof? I may need to cut out the glass and the molding to remove the rest of the plastic so a stock headliner fits (I hate how aftermarket sunroofs stretch headliners. That was my main grief (aside from the water)). Anyone ever dealt with something like this? The glass can stay, I just need to somehow completely seal it so water stops seeping in and remove the rest of the assembly (other than the glass) so the stock headliner will rest in place.
Thanks in advance again.
Edit:
Also, if you have a headliner for a 96-99 coupe and want to sell it, I'm looking for one (yes, I'll check the for sale section, but throwing it here just in case).

Dome light bracket (other side is the same as this side)

Edit:
On further observation, all the brackets were cut...

bump:
No ideas here folks? Really hoping someone has some experience here, otherwise I'm stabbing in the dark with a (hopeful) final fix.

Thanks,
This really isn't a Civic or even a Honda issue. It looks like a crappy Pep Boys sunroof install. You're going to have to get creative with the way the dome light is mounted.
Guess I'll just tape it up for now and cut out the glass once the weather is consistently nicer (i.e. less rain) to allow me to remove the rest of the plastic molding.
As for the dome light, the best fix I've come up with is plumbers strap with some adhesive pads.
They sprayed the hell out of the roof of the with spray glue... Gives it a nice rust/poop color tint. Custom s**tstain interior color.
Love the car though. 37-39 MPG is very, very enjoyable.
Last bump (I promise).
Current plan:
1.Cut out the glass, finish remove the plastic molding from the top.
2. Go to a windshield place to have the glass reinstalled and sealed properly (should not cost much as I'm providing the glass).
3. Get plumbers strap run across the top where the bracket used to be, support on the ends on the old bracket and with glue pads in the middle and mount dome light to this.
4. Find a new headliner (with out without sunroof, hopefully without) and install
