I'm going to look at a quaife lsd soon..

what would I look for to see if it is still good?

or is it one of those things that I wont know until its in the trans?

Anything to help me out would be awesome

 

They are kinda hard to evaluate just by looking at the outside of them. I'd want to see the pinion and sun gears if possible.

 

well im going to be checking it out.. I dont have it with me...

Is there a way to disassemble it and look for something?

 

There should be 9 bolts holding the flange end of the case to the small end.

Take those 9 bolts out, the case should separate, and the pinions and sun gears will be exposed. As long as there's no obvious damage, you should be good to go.

 

okay cool.. what is the size and type of tool i need? also what should i look for to know its a forsure quaife?

I just picked up a ITR lsd. It looks like its in good condition. how can I tell from here that the lsd is in good working order?

 

stick a cv axle in each end and spin it.
