weapon r secret intake
After doing a whole bunch of what maybe totally useless research. i notice alot of guys including JoTech,JSR and a few others to use a custom tuned length intake utilizing the weapon r secret short ram as a base. If you do not know this intake uses a 3 inch pipe with a smaller pipe suspended in the middle of the intake of a much smaller diameter. The theory of this intake pipe is to create a venturi effect. It has much fast mover air in the smaller piper and a high volumer of slower moving air surrounding it. When these 2 meet at the throttlebody it will create a vacuum or "supersuction" effect which increase both volume of air and velocity to the intake manifold.
Is this type of intake system beneficial over a basic Short ram intake or is it just a gimmick. I have searched and searched and found no comparisons on anything considered built in anway. I have found dyno charts for this intake system compared to other short rams on a stock 99 civic si. Tho the b16 would probly be far from optimum when trying to compare sheer flow of an intake system. Looking for any feedback, theories and experiences. Did i just waste my time?

its a good possibility you did lol. Im interested if there is any merit to something like this although I do believe intakes are often way over thought. to me three main things will dictate overall performance, length, diameter and how straight of a shot it is (minimal bends and smooth transitions)
yes from a lager pipe to a smaller pipe it will you increase the air velocity speed ( not sure if im using the right terms of words ) from the large pipe to the small pipe. its like a funnel air get suck into lager pipe, then get force pushed into the small pipe, its the same reason why porter would tapper the runner on intake manifold.

i have one sitting around and was wondering if it actually works

Many intakes including this one and the pwjdm whale ***** are made to raise intake velosity. Unfortunatly the only thing I've seen the both of them do is make your vtec sound like a animal coming out of a cage, which is useless to me, dunno bout u
For off the shelf intakes, aem kills the competition. Custom is the way to go.
Trev you should display yours
idk if it works but its what i use with a vstack. granted with the split tubes on the inside the vstack might be kind of defeated but the inside of a weapon-r filter has a small vstack inside it.
never dynoed it but its an intake and until my car is more built i'm just gonna let it fly. works great for me though.
always wondered the same thing. and all i ever saw was flow bench testing which is kinda useless.

this is also why the whale ***** intake sucks *****..
only if you get like the dragon intake. secret weapon intake looks pretty normal for a cone filter with the top of it useable for ram air. i just meant on the inside of them is a small vstack.
so whats your take on the weapon r secret? also why does the whale ***** suck *****? Technical info in a format which i can understand. thanks!
