Default dot3 vs dot4?

So my rex manual calls for dot 3 brake fluid... the stainless steel replacement lines I ordered specifically for 88 to 91 CRX says to use dot 4. Being a complete noob at mechanical stuff, does anyone have a suggestion on which to use? Is there even really a difference?

So basically, as long as I flush out the system... dot4 will work just fine in my rex?

Dot 3 and dot 4 are interchangeable/mixable in cars requiring dot 3 fluid, but if the new lines say to use dot 4, I'd use dot 4.

Exactly!

Actually my MC says on top use DOT3 or DOT4, DOT4 is better but a little more $$

Just don't use dot 5, unless its 5.1 which is compatible.
