There's a 90dB sound limit at Laguna Seca??
I'm afraid I'll never be able to go there - even with my "quiet" Mugen exhaust - which is actually VERY loud when my engine hits VTEC.

i wanna go soooo bad....i bet money i would not pass the 90 db limit or i would just destroy the 90 db limit!!! if i sell this car i would sooo be there!!!
theres a little hut off drivers right just before turn 5. the locals only allow 4-5 weekends where sound is unrestricted for pro events, the rest of the year they feel they have the right to have bought homes near a racetrack and complain about it. so there is a mandatory sound level that is constantly checked by the county at every event for all cars to appease the natives.
dont kid yourself, ANY full system street exhaust and muffler will pass, they arent nearly as loud as some open exhausts that do pass. ppl do tricks as direct the sound to the opposite side of the meter at the track, or have separate exhaust systems for LS.

the DB limit is down to 90 on some events at LS. sometimes they give 92 DB on certain groups (that's what we got at last tracquest event). my delsol was something like 96 DB not full throttle few years ago. earlier this year i put on stock airbox with cat. it was still too loud...
stock airbox quiets it down a lot actually, as is with having a cat. the sound booth is between 4-5 and is about 50 ft. the stupidest part the legal limit is 95 db. all the rich folks near the track just make me sick. it's like the track's always been there. you should've known better to buy a house near the track.
btw the road to carmel (name is something "grade") right near the track is really awesome. 10 deg. decline on totally awesome tarmacs.

I was one of the ten that signed up in the first hour
Ive been waiting for this for a long time. Its expensive, but the guy that runs the unlimted laps events puts on a great event, ive run 2 other events with them in the past at thunderhill and buttonwillow. 275 for a day at laguna seca(mazda raceway), including a catered lunch and a t-shirt..... Im there. hope to see some of you suckers there too. As for the 90 db sound limit, well needless to say rather than chance it, I'll be driving up with my stock exhaust....its not worth risking driving 3 hours and paying all that money just to get kicked off.

don't they give you a warning first then second offense you get kicked off.. when i went to LS for a USTCC event. i remember everyone complaining about the stupid dB limit.. and that they sit under the bridge and face it so the sound amplifies/reflects off the wall.. and when its cold(air being more dense) wasn't helping them either.. why not just take it easy around that turn(as you approach the firestone bridge).. wow only $275 for LS.. other people were paying $350 it musta been WRX day..
my car isn't ready for such a intense course.. i'll keep dreaming until then.. have fun guys!

How long would it take to get to LS from Santa Clara? Do I have to worry about traffic? I've never driven 101S on a weekday. Mapquest says ~1 1/2hr.
Also, what are some recommended hotels?
See you all there.
-allen (<=== gotta buy some new race pads)
That's about right 1.5-2 hrs if you've never been there and are going legal speeds. Not sure what time you are on the road, but since it will probably be in the morning that way is clear (opposite of the commute).
Not sure about hotels, but Salinas or Marina is like 10mins away and probably cheaper than something you'll find in Monterey.

Anyone want to get a caravan together the night before?
Also, anyone want to get together with a PlayStation2 and GT3 for some practice?
Heckler: I think I have a picture of you giving a thumbs-up from Thunderhill.
