Default Having problems controling my sedan at high speeds

I've been having problems controling the steering on my sedan recently. It was doing it before but now it got worse. I replaced upper control arms with ball joints. Did the lower ball joints as well. Replaced outer tie rods and also the rack and pinoin. Got an alinement as well. Went and even replaced the steering column and still nothing. Car is fine on normal speeds but when I get to higher speeds the car starts swaying. I have no clue in what else to look for or replace. If anyone can help that would be great. Thanks.

what size tire do you have?
thought about wheel bearings?
thought about putting on a sway bar(if the car doesn't have one)?
lowered?
if you are what kind of shock/spring combo?
at what speed are you swaying?

Is it possible sway from the rear end?

Like the rear trailing arm bushing are going bad or are bad?

How are the bushings on the front Lower Control Arms?

Its not swaying from the rear at all.

I put new trailing arm bushings in when I did my rear disc conversion.

The bushing on the lower control arms I wouldnt know I would have to check.

Ok I have alot of play on the steering wheel. Its like if the column and the rack are not lined up properly. It feels like I have a delay in the steering.

Sounds like your problem right there.
Steering rack or tie rods.

Thats what I thought at first. Then I replaced both and still nothing.

Here is the service manual page, I'm just kind of tossing out ideas for you to check.
No I haven't and didn't know how to. Thanks for the manuel page I will have to check that out. Can you resend that page for some reason its not coming up.

Any chance the upper control arms are on the wrong sides? That will change your caster and make your steering very unstable.

I doubt it but hey you never know. Will have to check when I get home. Will having integra control arms make it do that?

hmm..... might. even though you have a EX, im pretty sure you run civic control arms, not DA. if you're running DC's, that might be worst.

The only reason im running DA's is because when I got the car it had full DA front end. It had civic control arms but was hitting the top of the shock mount. Was told to use DA's since the arms are a little longer they wont hit.

Dephtone is probably right on the money about the rack adjustment.

Here is a writeup by a guy describing the exact same symptoms.
http://ht-archive.org/showthread.php?t=2572614

I adjusted my steering rack after reading this thread and it made a nice difference in the way the steering felt (I wanted it to be firmer). I adjusted it several times until I got it just right. They make a special tool but I just used an adjustable wrench without any problems. Give it a shot - I hope this helps.

Here is a writeup for an integra but it is almost the same thing.

are you sure it was a DA front end? you know the EX came with bigger brakes, but from what it sounds like, you might have DA knuckles, don't know why if your car is a EX, wouldn't need it (strange).

how low are you again?

I didn't know that I didn't have EX brakes until I actually went to do the brakes. I orders everything for the EX but nothing fit. After 3 different sets of rotors I called my cousin how I bought the car off of. He told me that he never did the brakes so he wasn't sure what was going on. I them remembered people putting DA brakes on their STD and DX civics so I gave it a shot. Come to find out the DA rotors and pads fit.

I'm lowered about 2.5 to 3 inches

hmmm i'm having a similar problem, i'm going to try the adjustment to see if that gets rid of the slop in my steering wheel... right now it's bad enough that at high speeds my car plays in the ruts... which is scary

hmm.... where did you go to buy your parts? even a autozone would have given you a good parts list.

can't say for sure now. might be upper control arm, might be radius rod, or might just have to adjust the rack and pinon. not sure.

pretty sure your upper control arms should be civic...if you don't find anything else, you should change those out. they didn't find any problems during the alignment??
