Default ls/vtec, stock bottom end anyone?

a friend of mine can give me his b16 head for a really good price. i need some help on deciding if i should put the head on the stock bottom without rebuilding it, or just wait (long time) till i get some more money for some high compression pistons and rods. how do you think it would perform just w the stock bottom end??

rasie your compression to 10.5-11:1 and get forged rods, thats all.

you can rebuild the motor a cheap but a good way to make decent power. get eagle rods , they are cheap but do the job for n/a cars, and get a set of ctr's. i would also invest in the z10 block girdle and you should be fine. that is a good budget build up that works.

oh yeah that also would be a good idea, why not put a prodrive in it. then you wont have to worry.

i had a stock bottom end in my ls/vtec for over 7k miles since april. it ran fricken amazing, all i had was gsr cams and a fpr and a chipped ecu and i could easily pull every gsr in a crx that i came across, i pulled a 92 hatch w/ gsr that ran 13.8's all day on slicks, it was great till my rings finally gave out last week, it's still not running but my friend has a good ls motor he's selling me and then i have my block that's in my car now to rebuild and also another b18 block with a bad rod bearing. i'm going to go with the ctr piston route with some total seal rings and call it good. you'll love it either way.
