Default 87' Honda CRX SI Questions

I just recently came across a 87 Honda CRX SI and I have quite a few questions.

First, The header panel is cracked, needs to be replaced. I found one place that actually sells them and yes, it's Ebay. I was curious, can you get the header panel and fenders in metal instead of plastic?

Also, the 91 CRX hood, would it fit on the 87 CRX with a little bit of modification?

And finally, are there certain things you need to do in order to get the rear end of a Acura Integra onto a 87 CRX?

The answer to most of your questions is going to be no. The thing about 1st gen CRX's is that they aren't for people who want heavy after-market modifications. They are getting to be so rare, that there is just no market for the companies who produce the products.

Your best bet is to buy stock parts when you can find them, but most importantly, repair as much as you can. For starters, small dents on your stock hood are cake to repair, just use some bondo, or ask someone who knows the basics of body work to help, then re-spray it.

Thanks for the info crxguy, maybe you can help me with a few more?

Is there a solution to fix cracking of the header panel and the fenders? Like a film on the back side? Being new to the forums here and basically being unsure of anything on CRX's. I don't want to end up buying them again and having them crack.

I have more questions about the 87 CRX, I'm going to post pictures of the car here soon. The interior is all stock, only thing that really looks somewhat unpleasant would be the seats, small rips on the sides. Fixable.

The exterior has minor body damage. Front header panel is cracked in half (lost half of it while driving down the road, instant sad face). Left fender has small cracks leading from the bolts that hold it in place. There is only one quatersize rust spot on the back left side. The back plastic peice, trunk key hole. Best way I can describe it, that piece is cracked as well.

If anyone has a header panel or the back piece, I would like it. . Trying to restore the car to the best of my abilities.

Thanks in advace!

There is nothing wrong with the plastic replacement fenders and header panel. The only reason they get brittle and crack is with extreme age (25 years for example) or if they aren't properly painted... the UV from the sun just cooks the hell out of exposed plastic. The other thing to keep in mind which will extend the life of the replacement parts... when bolting them to the car frame... use lots of spacers/washers where you have stress spots. Yes, the parts are designed to flex a little to fit properly... but if you have spots with extreme flex and stress... its better to straighten out the frame, or use spacers... so the plastic has less tension on it.

I'm pretty much repairing the same parts on my CRX as you are... you can check it out by clicking the 84 link in my signature.
