spun a bearing yesterday
so i spun a bearing yesterday kinda weird cuz my motor never gets ran low on oil or i guess it was a freak occurrence i guess. i drove to the junk yard and blasted it all ther way there drive it like i usually do to the limit dropped my buddy off at his house went to rip it down the alley and had no vtec so i figured somthin loose had no cel. check it nothing out of place go home then go back out and had a loud tick thought it as valves so i did a valve lash changed the oil went for a ride around the block had vtec but was down on power then i ended up hering a knock not loud but loud enough to here it. the motor is a jdm b16a fully rebuilt 3 years ago has supertech valve springs and ctr pistons and cams header and intake mani and all that jazz. motor was clearenced with plasti guage and all were fine. the berrings was spining inside the rod hole so i ended up getting a peice of scotch briote pad cuting it to the width of the rod jurnol and polishing it up a bit to try to clean it up a heres #1cyl rest were perfect
put a new bearing since i apparently had one in a box from a while ago and re assembled and fired it up and last nite i beat on it pretty bad and put allot of load and it still quiet no tick no knock. just figured id share my experence. this only has to last another month before i put the b20v swap in

Lol what? Replaced a spun bearing in a scored rod and it's running fine? You're living on borrowed time. I'd give it maybe 2-3 days; less if the crank was damaged as well...
Good luck with the b20v though! Always a swap I wanted to do...

Well ill check the vtec screen and see if it has berring particals in it but as far as I know it hasent knocked but I don't care and I've ben driving it around since saturday. As long as it is still good I'm good lol
Ok well I measured the berring thickness with a micrometer. And had a used berring that was in good shape that one ended up as .5085 thick and the one that spun was .505 hoping I read the too correct that would leave me with .0035 that was taken off.
Hard to say it wasn't too bad. I scotch brited the jurnol to clean off any berring particals and didn't plast guage it but when I tq it down the rod moved side to side easaly I'm still driving it and hitting vtec. I have a spare b16 crank but figured it wouldn't be worth the effort to take the motor out and change the crank.
