Over the last few weeks I have been having more and more issues with my clutch in my 96 DB8, harder to shift in and out of gears, slight scraping noise when trying to feather the clutch, random clutch chatter when going into the lower gears. I have come to the conclusion that the stock clutch disc must be coming apart (separating) I hope! So today I picked up a 4 puck sprung hub clutch with a 2600lb pressure plate along with a chrommolly 12lb lighted flywheel and will be pulling apart today. Pictures of the removal and install will come soon. Here is the clutch and flywheel I'm going to run.

Well I was right, Here is what i found when I pulled the trans out. Looks like one of the springs broke loose and a pc of metal was loose inside the trans.

Remove all the 17mm bolts that hold the trans to the block.

Unplug the backup light switch

remove both driver and pass axles.

Remove the 3 bolts that hold the half shaft in place.

remove the flywheel cover. 2 17mm bolts and 4 12mm bolts Also remove the shift linkage

Remove the front torq mount bolts

Remove the upper trans mount bracket, this is where you will need a jack to support the trans or in my case I had 2 people hold the trans when I removed the bolts. dont do what I did and forget to drain the trans fluid, I dumped it all on myself when we pulled the trans out.

And here you go, should look something like this.

now you can remove the clutch and disc. It should look something like this. In my case I replaced the flywheel, clutch & pressure plate. if you replace the flywheel make sure and use locktight. Tourq 79ftlbs

Don't forget to install a new pilot bearing.

Install the new clutch/disc. use thread lock and tourq 19ftlbs
Now just do the process in reverse. make sure to refill the trans with fluid. I used Synchromesh.
Remove the upper fill bolt and fill until it starts to run out of the hole.

Well in my case the trans went back in and all my problems are fixed!!!
Time for the 500 mile break-in period.

Do you even realize how many different engines have been in this car since this thread was created?
You would be better off just PMing him about the knock off clutch instead. He didn't have it in there for extremely long in any event.

So i just replaced my clutch flywheel clutch slave an bleed it but it won't shift into gear while started only when off i put clutch in an 1st gear then turned it over an it jerked for word so clutch is engaged any ideas on what's wrong?? Please help asap
You should have made your own thread instead of bumping this old thread.
Either you put the clutch on backwards or didn't bleed the slave properly.
