How much longer can my integra go?
Hey integra fans,
How much longer can my integra go?
190k miles
original clutch
original engine
no mods
garage kept
daily driver
32 mpg last tank of gas
oil change guy said all fluids are where they are supposed to be with no leaks
2nd owner (since 2001)
Neither one of my girls knows how to drive a 5 speed, and I let no one else drive it but me.
I've always found hondas to be very trustworthy, but am I pushing my luck by counting on this car for another 1, 2, 3 years?
My wife drives a 98 civic hatch with 78k miles and our daughter drives the 05 element with 104k miles. Besides changing out a oil pan gasket on the civic and replacing a back tail light housing our girl destroyed by backing into a telephone poll, I've had no issues with either vehicle. These cars aren't brand new either and all 3 of our rides get driven every day.
What do you think?

I forgot to mention that it has a newer timing belt and a newer front axle changed out in the last two years.
The four wheel disc brakes get changed as soon as I hear the first sound of trouble coming from them, and the tires are down to about their half life.

I've used mobil one conventional oil (I think my oil change guy uses quaker state) for ten years.
I won't use cheaper oil, but I won't use syn oil either. I've always believed its better to have a great engine and regular oil than an unreliable engine and syn oil.
The integra has never gone more than 5k miles without an oil change.
300k would be sweeeeeet!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I tell people I would feel confident driving it cross country or to Florida, and they look at me like I'm developmentally disable.

Friend of mine relieved ra converters from Cincinnati's to Toledo 5 days a week car got hit and totaled at 304k all stock. I would set aside some just in case money and expect another 50k if everything is sound.
Just about to rebuild a GS-R motor here. 216k miles with 60 or so road race hours on it as well (thousands of miles racing) plus a bit more doing track days. Motor is still fine except for cylinder 4 but that damage was caused by something else..
300k on a maintained street engine should be no problem at all.

I have 220,000K on my 94 I have replaced clutch, starter, brakes and axles, the car has been drag raced and auto-crossed every year since new, I have a friend with 320,000K on a 94, stock engine, he has replaced clutch, brakes and both axles I have a customer with a 95 that just hit 355,000K, brakes alt., pass. axle and two clutches.
We all have a few things in common, we all do regular preventive maintenance, we all use good quality oil, [non synthetic] I use Pennzoil, we all change oil every 3000K or so.
I would not hesitate driving my 94 1/2 way across Canada, Kelowna B.C. to Winnipeg Manitoba 1600K ATCF 94

And my 94 integra LS lasted 289k until it blew the headgasket. but this car had about 10 previous owners to it. When i got it, it had 279k. That gave the me the excuse to tell the wife it was time for a swap. LOL.
Honda B engines are one of the most reliable 4 cyclinders in the world. my '90 teg is bone stock with a K&N filter and shes made it all the way to 494,000kms (306,957 miles) I used a scope to look inside the cylinders and you can still see cross-hatching...and alot of hard carbon!
my integra just passed 280k miles and still runs amazing, idles perfectly at 750 and starts up every morning with the exception of my ignition switch going out, which I recently replaced. Dont worry lol.
should last forever if maintenance is on par. keeping it stock is a plus too
that clutch prob wont last too much longer though
ive had a celica with 240k miles orig clutch

About the clutch: It all depends on how you drive and how you work the clutch. I've had several vehicles I've bought new, from different makes, get well over 200K on the original clutch. And I don't baby it by any means.
This integra has definitely been the best car I've ever owned. Luckily, my wife and daughter have no desire to learn how to drive a 5 speed, leaving me as the only person to drive it since 2001.
It's got its fair share of rust, but 32 mpg these days helps out, and the car is very fun to drive for being a bone stock integra.
Thanks for your vote of confidence. I plan on making this my daily driver until the wheels fall off.
This website has been very helpful with fixing stuff on my civic and element too.
Here is a picture of the old girl.
My CRX-lovin' buddy told me that this thing may actually be worth more money a year from now with gas prices.
Also, he believes that it wouldn't take me long at all to sell it to some young cat who wants something cheap, fast, and easy to make mods too.

Besides all the electrical harm done from that lightning storm, the car should run easily to 300k miles. Driving a high mileage Honda cross country is not a problem if it's been well maintained.
My 98 civic EX has 242k miles. Would have no problem driving it to Cali and back. I wouldn't even give it a second thought.

Hey integra los jugadors (y las jugadoras por las chicas),
Good news:
I just came from the gas station. I got 384 miles out of a tank and it only took 11.4 gallons. That comes out to 33.7 mpg!!!!! Oh yeah!!!!!
Bad news:
Gas was 3.89 a gallon and it took $44 worth of gas. I've had my integra since 2001, and it used to take effort to get $13 worth of gas in it.

It also once did 130mph and got 30mpg on the same tank!! With 143k miles and the original clutch!! I was obviously on a lonely highway...but still.
Filters should be checked too, make sure u always use a good oil filter for ur oil and itll last. NEVER buy fram....
