Default car painting question

When you paint a car weather you are just repainting the whol;e car the same color or doing a color change. Do you have to paint the car as a whole or can you do it in sections. What I mean is can you remove the front and rear bumper, hood, both fenders, trunk, and paint them and then go and paint the rest of the car like the pillers and quarter panels and then re assemble the car. Or is it better to just leave the car intact and paint it all as a whole.

you can dissasemble it but ideally you should spray it at the same time. if you can have your parts next to your car on a stand you can do it all at once

With candys and mist Mattalic colors it's best to atleast spray them at the same time weather on the car or on stands..it keeps the color even and not different shades..

If you were to spray them at different times atleast make sure you put the same amount of base color coats on the panels and the car to keep it even..

I plan on spraying them all in the same day I just thought it would be easier to paint the bumpers, fenders ect while they were off the car.

And am I missing any steps ? I want to repaint my car a new color it dosent need body work actually I did a front end conversion on it so it has a new hood bumper and fenders. So I first need to wash the car, than prime the new body panels bumpers, hood and fenders, with 2 coats of primer ? sand down the primer. Sand / scuff the rest of the car with the original paint on it with 600 grit. wash the car again and than spray 3 or 4 coats of base and than hit it with clear. Am i missing any steps ? do i need to prime the whole car or is primer only necessary if i used filler or on new body panels that are just bare metal.

Primer is not always necessary if you have good paint underneath like no crows feet or your clear failing, but if your trying to cover up a darker color just go with a sealer. Depending on the color your gonna paint it you might have to tint the sealer. You do wanna make sure to scuff everything for adhesive. Do not use 600 grit sandpaper before paint will leave scratches. I'd go with like 800 to 1000 3 or 4 coats sounds like a lot unless it's a mica.

Ok i'm a total painting noob so thanks for the advise and anymore you have would be great. If you had a whole run down of the steps that would be great considering some parts have paint and just need to be scuffed and some are new and neve had paint on them
