b16 mysterious oil pool/leak
so i have a b16 in my DA
over the past few days my oil has been kinda low, i put a bit in it and it just dissapears, no burns no leaks from the bottom. so i took a closer look and saw that i have a aftermarket cam seal, now it doesnt look like its leaking but there is alot of oil where the head meets the block on the passenger side. i dno if its the cam seal, vtec solenoid, or my head gasket is shitting on me? i doubt its head gasket cuz no smoke and oil and coolant are both fine. any way to know wether its the vtec solenoid or somthing?
here are some pics:
(sorry they are phone pics) (red is where i am finding the oil)
thanks guys

ya but thats all old and dried up, the red is where its just gathering, i wiped it off and took it for a spin for like 10 min, when i got back it was there again...lol
Go buy some dye and clean it up run and check. It's hard for us to tell but 9/10 times I see pooling there its because of a valve cover basket leak. How fast are you consuming oil

pretty much cam seal or valvecover, i had my headgasket changed a while back and it poooled there as well i cleaned that spot real well, when it drives again ill be lookin at those 2 parts. So just clean it super good and check where it trails from there
I had a similar issue on my GSR. Turned out to be the distributor o-ring. Takes 5min to do. Do that first before valve cover or cam cap replacement.
so i started it up and watched as i revved and i saw oil come out of the vtec solenoid, so i am going to fix that but could it really be leaking that much? because it didnt look like alot
so i am replacing vtec solenoid gasket, and ive also decided to replace cam cap, do i have to take off the vc to replace cam cap? or does the old one just pop right off?

It's the vtec solenoid gasket. It happens all the time when they get old and dry up. If you've never done a cam seal or distributor O ring then do it all at once. Probably about $40-50 worth of parts.
ya even if they arent leaking im just gunna replacem, doing the solenoid tommorow ill let u guys know if that fixes the problem.
I've just popped it out. It's a plastic cap with an o-ring and 4 snaps to hold it in. Replace that and the dist o ring and VTEC solenoid gasket. Most likely it's the cap/plug though (which isn't a cam seal btw, the cam seals go over the cam near the cam gears) and dist o-ring. I've had them leak far more often than the VTEC solednoid gasket.
I have a B18c in my DC2 and my head gasket is leaking oil right in the same spot. I also do not have any other head gasket symptoms. The reason is because the head gasket is not leaking into the cylinders only in that oil return passage from the head. Looks like the same thing I have. Looks like you need a head gasket my friend!!
