anybody know how to get all that black dirt off? i've already tried using goo gone and im not sure if rim cleaner would work.

 

wheel acid. if you know someone who works at a dealership they can spray some on there for ya. or try some turtle wax compound cleaner after a bit of laquer thinner on a rag? usually works. everything i have ever done has worked no proble. lemme know if that helps and if not i will think of more solutions for ya.

Unsure if the above poster was being facetious about using acid, but at the expense of irony, DO NOT USE anything acidic to clean your wheels. They will eat up the finish. That includes spray-on-rinse-off products.

If so, go ahead and use oven cleaner and see what happens to your wheels.

 

A dedicated wheel cleaner will get that off easily.
EagleOne A2Z Wheel and Tire cleaner or Meguiars All Wheel Cleaner.
They're inexpensive and available at most places.
Don't follow the directions on the back.

Spray on, let it dwell for 5-10 seconds and agitate with a brush or rag, rinse well, then wipe dry.

I've used these with my own set of Si rims and various family members' Honda OEM rims; they come out nice and clean.
Also, hit your wheels up with a wax or quick/spray wax to make future cleanings easier. No need for a dedicated wheel wax.

Or if your paranoid you can check out a pH neutral wheel cleaner, you might have to order one online.

 

Cooper, OE wheels can typically handle acidic cleaners just fine. of course it matters on the dilution, but...meguiars wheel brightener is a fantastic acidic cleaner and a great value considering it is a concentrate. there are tons of detailers who use this stuff regularly on the various forums and have no issues. just make sure the sprayer you use is chemical resistant and again, make sure the dilution and dwell times are monitored closely. don't let it dwell too long - spray it on, agitate with an adequate brush (i use what's called an ez-detail brush and also a smallish round boars hair for crevices, stems and lug holes.

for off the shelf type acidic cleaners...duragloss 803 is great and available at federated and carquest stores. the other items BlackandMildSI mentioned are also decent for OTC acidic cleaners.

moderation is key.

if you are looking at some boutique stuff...

p21s wheel cleaner gel is a really nice product that you can spray on and let dwell indefinitely. it will not damage anything whatsoever. the downside is the cost.

a similarly popular product is sonax wheel cleaner but it is REALLY expensive. it works incredibly well but the cost is downright scary.

my most popular wheel cleaner is actually optimum power clean. it's an organic non-acidic citrus all purpose cleaner that can be diluted for several different types of uses. i use it mixed 1 part cleaner, 1 part water for heavily soiled wheels and let it dwell for a couple minutes, misting with water to prolong the dwell time. for normal upkeep, if i can't get away with simply pretreating with wash dilution optimum no rinse, i use optimum power clean mixed 3:1. it won't totally bleed off everything, but with some agitation it will remove grime well.

i have never used the griots cleaner but it seems like a decent value and is kind to all wheels.

 

did you even try buying some wheel cleaner from an autoparts store and TRY to clean them? if not..use Jif
