just purchased a 91 civic hatchback dx
im not planning to do a whole lot with it. maybe some suspension mods, but definitely some body work, due to the front being all squished and crumpled. the headlights are kinda squished in. the bumper pokes out on the driver and passenger sides of the car, and it is a little diagonally crooked. the hood has a dent next to the honda emblem. both front fenders are bondo'd poorly to cover old crumplage. the interior is in pretty nice condition. the driver's seat is welded into just slightly more reclined than i would like. it also has a good sized tear on the left side. my wheels are the stock steelies. my windshield is cracked. some of the windows and dooehandles and such have overspray from the shitty white spraypaint the previous owner used.
... but hey, the previous owner was also the 1st and only owner. awesome. he got the car with 14 miles on it. and now i am the second owner.
the engine has been serviced well and it shows. the 4 speed is fun to drive with. but is a little touchy when starting from a stop. takes a little more finesse than my miata or sentra did.

i just did an oil change and air filter. tomorrow i plan to put on the new rotors and pads that i got today. as well as clean it some more- it was super dirty- and take care of the title stuff. oh man i hate the title stuff.
i think the inspection sticker might have been pulled from another car, so im going to get it re-inspected. the 2 previous year's inspections were in the car, so i'm not worried. it did really well.

oh yeah, i am also getting an alignment and tires tomorrow.
is there any preferred source for OE spec body panels? anywhere that i could get some fenders and bumpers for cheap?

eh, it's not so bad. its a pretty good car. once i get done with what i have for tomorrow it will go from being pretty good to great, i think. my brother in law does auto body and will hopefully be able to swing me some deals on the body stuff, and we will probably do that stuff together in my garage, or his grandma's huge garage, as we have done in the past with a bike of mine, and his old truck. also, i only paid $1400 and i dont feel the slightest bit ripped off. the saying is worn out, but the car really will pay for itself.
the tires on it right now are in decent condition, but they are of a pretty sorry brand. arizonian, or arizonas... i think it is a discount tire brand.
i just replaced the horn with a wolo unit, much better. mine only loudly buzzed.
replaced the brake rotors and pads. another round of simple green in the engine bay. cleaned the hatch out. lots of junk in there. about to take it out for an alignment and tires. i might stick with the steelies.

progress report
havent done much since the tires, breaks, and various other things that i did right after i got it.
i get some time now and again to do little jobs. the other night i began sticker removal for the big reflective sticker on the back window. i decided i like it not being there. removal is going slowly.
tonight i cleaned out the engine bay some more.
after a couple of simple greens

after a couple more

for the lulz

next thing i want to do is try and give it some power boost. i like the car and i dont mind the engine, but would like to add a little power. not looking for major swap jobs or a mini me project. are there any good power mods, such as a cam swap, for the d15b? something that wont require engine removal or any major surgury.
also, my civic is a canadian model with the stanley lights. my driver's side light has 2 very small holes im guessing from rocks. both lights work fine. i would trade them for some good condition US headlights if anyone wants to.

mpfi swap is something you should do first. not to expensive and everything bolts right on, hardest part is wiring. but there's a MILLION write ups that go step by step.
