Default Motor Swap

Hey guys, i need to know if i can do a straight up swap between my D15B2, and a D16Z6 just bolting it right up, keeping the tranny that is in it now. Also if i will need a new ECU, or new motor mounts kuz i can't find any parts for the D15B2(Forged Rods, Pistons, valves, ect.) Lemme know! Also if anyone is selling seat brackets for the 89 EF kuz i need a new drivers seat!!

use the search function! there is so much info on this if you wouldn't be so lazy and do a lil research.

uhm, to my knowledge.
its going to be an OBD1 conversion.
you'll ned to convert to multipoint fuel injection, or else you'll have to ghetto rig your DPFI manifold. and idk if it'll even run at that point.
you can keep the same tranny. there shouldn't be a problem there.
you might consider getting new inserts for your stock mounts (bushings)
just because your swaping, and it could never hurt, but your stock ones should work fine.
your biggest attention on this swap is new ECU and ODB1 conversion. other than that. i would say converting to multi point is the next issue.
good luck brohan

than instead of saying just "search".
link them to the FAQ. or say hey try this website. it has swap info.
theres no need to put that person down.
it doesn't help them unltimately, because they obviously don't know what to search or else they wouldn't ask. im not trying to rude. its just frustrating. because there was a point when you knew nothing either.

i see what your saying, if your ultimately trying to help this guy out than please link him. There was a point when I knew nothing either, yes, but I had gone to school where they teach you how to 'research'. Not get spoon fed awnsers.

As you may also notice the op was signed on last night, and he never cared to respond to his own thread. Whether that was to you or to cry to me for being blunt. Obviously he is not serious about doing a swap.

Couldnt he stay obd0 if he uses all the obd0 components and convert to multipoint? There is no need to convert to obd1 when a D16a6 came in the 88-91 civic si. Technically he could stay with the DPFI but he wont be able to do all the performance gains he wants with Dual Point.

To the OP all your stock components will work but i would consider doing a complete DPFI to MPFI conversion before putting the D16a6 in and use the 88-91 obd0 PM6 ecu.

No.
He was talking about going to a Z6 not A6.

Z6 won't run properly on an A6 ECU as the Z6 cam will fall flat on it's face when it hits vtec range and can't engage the vtec lobes.
Some people add a vtec controller to retain the OBD0 ECU and still get vtec action, but then you run into the issue of running lean as the A6 ECU doesn't support the fuel mapping required for the extra air being pulled in with vtec.
Back in the day this was easily fixed by chipping the A6 with corrected fuel map and using the A/C clutch or auto tranny lock-up solenoid (Ps9 ECU or component modded PM6) wiring to control the vtec.
People were also using FMUs to add the extra fuel, but it's not nearly as precise as being ECU controlled.
Running OBD0 on the Z6 requires an 'aggressive' mod to the A6 distributor to make it fit.
if you aren't mechanically inclined to hack away at the mounting ears then this is out of the question.

At that point, it would be totally worth it to go ahead with the DPFI to MPFI and the OBD0 to OBD1 conversion and get the Z6 running like it should with the proper P28 OBD1 ECU.

And would a K-Series swap be worth it? I got the motor and everything, but i've been looking up info and it is going to be time consuming, and with no shop it will be really hard. would i be better off taking my car to the shop and having them do it, or just selling the K20 setup and getting a B?

my homie jus put a k20a2 in his 89si, you will have some work to do, he bought the shift bracket for a eg n modified it to fit a ef, then he had to get a kpro and custom wire harness, then a jdm cluster cuz its electronic and the vtec runs different on k series than d or b series, it was alot of work, but if you like ur car that much i think it would be worth it, its got 170k miles and he is pushin 210 whp, with jus a air intake header pipe n 2 1/2 inch exaust, its pretty fun but was alot of work
