the only one reason why i would use spacers is if my hood has problems clearing my motor....so imo no if its for form but yes if it function

Or unless your trapping excess heat under the hood and need a way to help vent it by allowing more airflow through the engine bay.

Personally, I have it on mine as my boosted EF's under hood temps are a warmer than I'd like.

I think it's dumb to do it "just because" it looks bad.

Function > Form IMO

But its JDM as F@CK. jk, I did it for a while when I have sohc spark plug wires on my dohc zc and my timing belt cover off. Then I just cut the webbing out of my hood and took the spacers out.

I currently have mine spaced... wish I didn't. Considering lowering the GSR simply so I can have the hood sit flush again. In short, if it's not functional... it's gh3y

USe it for high underhood temps if needed. You didnt post it in the cosmetic section so I am sure this was the response you were looking for? It does help, yes.. does it look cool? Thats in the eyes of the beholder as always.

It doesnt help for temps, and for the people that say they do, theyre wrong.

People like to do it to give their car that racer look, but it just ends up looking like a riced out POS.

Its pointless. How does adding some washers make it "JDM?" the rest of your post confuses me, and gives me a headache.

Someone needs to put one of those wireless thermometers in the engine bay and test a before and after so we can put the functionality of it to the test. I had it on my b16a hatchback that I sold, probably not going to do it on my dohc zc CRX. I don't have any clearance issues, and I'd rather not advertise the swap to LEO or thieves, even if it is a relatively cheap engine.

I'm not going for super performance on the CRX, just a clean DD with a little pep and good MPG.

i've read that it helps with cooling for higher performance vehicles (boosted cars) and to get air flow over the wiper blades for DD "race" cars. it doesn't add 5hp but it did shave 0.1 off a DD skylines 1/4 mile.

to each there own.

edit" or maybe it did add 5hp with all the "extra" cooling. lols.

Do this:
Get in a car with a sunroof. Push the button for "fresh air" and get the car up to highway speed with the sunroof closed. Put your hand in front of the vents(fan off). Feel anything? Not much.

Now, at the same speed, open the sunroof. Now what do you feel?

The same amount off air is trying to enter the car in both cases. With the sunroof open (JDM tyte hood tilt) the air has path to flow, where before it was stagnant.
I'll agree that most people do it for the look, but in some instances it is beneficial.

Unless you have an H, it'll close. Looks retarded. If you're boosting, I see a purpose.
