Default can't get new axle back into transmission 95 accord

Hi all

Replacing both the front axles on my 95 accord today because of shot CV joints (4cyl, no abs, auto trans)...smooth so far but I can't get the new passenger side axle to seat back into the transmission, it goes part way and then feels like it hits something....I've tried rotating it as I push on it, no good. It appears identical to the old one as far as length and # of teeth...any hints on doing this? Also, is there a gasket that needs to go inbetween the new axle and transmission?

Thanks for any help....

Just start to put the inner joint into the splines in the differential and give it a quick snap, if you push slowly it often wont seat.

There's a seal that goes on both sides, the outside of which is flush with the outside of the transmission casing.
