My compressor has a leak - How do I fix it?
Compressor on my 93 sol has a leak. I found out by adding oil into it and it simply leaked out. What i dont know is what to replace to stop the leak. Is it a seal or something? If i open up the compressor will it mess it up in any way?
You should also figure out why the compressor died in the first place.
A frequent failure mode is a clogged expansion valve causing a high side overpressure and overheating. Water in the system can cause the same problem, plus it puts extra load on the compressor at the same time.
If you want the new compressor to last, get the system flushed before you put it in, and replace the receiver/drier and expansion valve right before you evacuate and charge the system.
