alright folks its been awhile since i posted something up here. But my car is a 99 civic ex, it has around maybe 250k on the motor. The problem is i get this odd knocking (clacking sound) every time i let off the gas, i will be doing around 2500-3500 rpm and when i let off the gas (in any gear or when its in gear, and the motor has load on it) you here this distinctive "clack clack clack clack" even when i start my car up you will here it start, then "clack clack clack clack." Ive done a; new clutch kit, new water pump, new timing belt tensioner, and timing belt, but still the sound persist. I've been reading around here and elsewhere and my final conclusion is maybe i spun a rod bearing or it's the valves. Also the sound started when i tried taking my cat off of the rest of the exhaust piping (piping from cat back) and i tried hacking the rusted cat bolts and nuts and decided to say forget it and just bolted everything back up. There is no air leaks between the cat and pipping so i kind of ruled that out. When i took off the tranny i checked the input shaft to see if there is any play; left -> right, up and down, NOTHING. If anything i know my motor has a lot of miles on it and im really hoping that i didn't spin a rod bearing.

have you check valve lash? i know mine is just to lazy to fix it lol

 

Aight I'm going to go check the valves tonight, I just bought the feeler gauges. Also if I spun spun a rod would I be able to drive it for 2 months to and from work and that's a 60 miles rpund trip?
