Can Torn Trailing Arm Bushings *Prevent* Proper Alignment?
Quick question:
I have torn rear trailing arm bushings. Alignment shop tells me that they cannot quite get the rear passenger toe to spec.
Will replacing the trailing arm bushings allow the toe to be properly adjusted to spec?
It's confusing to me because I could understand the toe coming out due to the torn bushing, but I don't see how a torn one would stop the toe from being aligned to spec at least until the car is lowered.
Anyone have any insight? Thanks.

Having torn bushings isn't going to cause some severe tire wear and no it wont stay lined up. When you do alignments you do the alignment and then lower the car back down on the alignment hoist (depending on what kind of a setup you have) then check the alignment again before you drive it off and go for a test drive. Sometimes if something is bent or worn out you just can't get it lined up, it will look lined up until you set the car down and check and it'll be way off. Replace the bushings and try again.
Thanks 94. I have energy suspension bushings on their way to me now. I'll post the results after the install and realignment attempt.
Just seems crazy to me that a piece of rubber would prevent alignment to spec while on the rack...
