'96 Civic: greasing brake pads newbie question
I'll probably get an award 4 the easiest question ever
Do I use copper paste on the entire REAR surface of the pads or only a bit in the middle?
And 2nd question, do I grease up the 2 'ears' (green arrows on the picture) that slide into the retainer clips, and should I grease up the 'lining' I arrowed (I'd say no because common sense tells me this is too close to the discs for comfort)
cheers,
Jeroen

Grease the ears that the green arrows are pointing to, and grease the back side of both pads (you'll want to grease the middle of the inside pad where the caliper piston touches it, and the outside ends of the outer pad where the caliper touches it)
No shims on the pads on this car (unless you are taking about the pad retainer clips).
So just to make it easy I'll grease the entire backside of both inner + outer pad with a thin layer + the ears.
If it makes any squeaks I could always apply some more.
Thanks for the clear info. I'm all set for the job as soon as my discs and pads get here
