Hi, I want to do a service to my car, is a 02 base RSX with 128k miles, need some recommendation on which oil to use (brand?, grade? should use regular or synthetic?) thanks in advance.

5w30 and I like Castrol brand synthetic.


You are shooting a very opinionated question.. you'll get no help as we all like something different

 

I'd go with either 5w30 or 5w20, these are normally the grades used for stock honda engines (once modifications are made such as turbo's for example, its a whole different story). As for the brand AMS oil has a pretty good reputation for quality oil, but like Type-Spaz said everyone likes something different.

 

You are right, too many options. Thanks for the suggestions, my car is completely stock and most of all want to know that oil will make the engine run better.

 

I have used Mobil 1 Synthetic for the entire life of the RSX. Any off the shelf syn 5w30 should be fine for your ride unless the factory recommendation for base models are somehow different.
