almost died today...
so today i was driving my car like every other day and i get right on the parkway near my house, i junmp to doing about 70-80 ish and im just cruising all the sudden my wheel starts makin a crazy wobble feeling and i hit the exit right away ( luckily i was going to get off there also ) so i slow down to like 25- 30 to jump off real quick and as i get off and get on a local road my front drivers side wheel pops off and i got ****ed.. luckily it didnt happen when i was going 70,i think i would have DIED.. i guess god was on my side today, so i jack my car up check it all out and luckily i have minimal damage to my car just the fender was ****ed up from the wheel smashing into it.( 97 tteggy ) i check it out and my studs are all in place still? none are bent none are cracked off, just my lugnuts have vanished... i jack up my car and put my wheel back on stealing one lugnut from each other wheel to slowly drive home. now is the tricky part, do you think someone could have like set me up? by loosening my lugs? or maybe they just got loose from driving ? my buddies say they have never seen this happen without the lugs actually snapping off, all of mine are still in place.. **** is scary i cant believe if thats the case anyone would do that. sorry just had to throw it out there im so thankful nothing major happened .
Yeah sounds like someone was playing a bad joke or was trying to kill you. Unless you recently did a tire change and totally forgot to tighten them on that wheel.

and yeah that is a strong possibility now that i think of it the night before it happened i noticed my light was on in my car, went outside and nothing was missing but my doors were unlocked which i never leave em unlocked but did by mistake theone time. maybe someone ewas attempting to steal them who knows
sounds to me like someone could have tried ****ing with you.... make no mistake your lugs dont just fall off, unless you didnt tighten them up correctly or something. good to hear nothing happen to yourself and you just small damage to the car. post some pics up of it so we can see how bad it is.
Wrong type of lug nut on rim?
I don't know, just a possibility. Has happened to me...same scenario. Luckily I made it where I could tighten my lugs back up....=/
Edit: Sounds like someone was trying to steal your wheels =/

i was driving my dodge ram 1500 the other day, hit a pothole and it busted 3 of 5 wheel studs.. scariest **** or my life. the rear end was all over the road. glad to hear you're alright!
Not to thread jack you or anything but Same things happened to me 2 weeks ago. All the studs broke off tho. my guess was 21years Of putting my lugs on with a breaker bar and over tighting them and bad roads. Like you luckly it happend doing 45ish and not 75 on the way to work. Worst part was i was on the way to pick up my accord.
Same EXACT thing happened to me 2 years ago on the passenger side. I had a picture of my car on the floor on the road at 4 am as I was coming home from college for summer. But I don't have it any more since I got a new phone =( I almost died and said the same thing. I saw 2 of my lug nuts on the floor and 1 or 2 of my studs were snapped off. I had to replace my fender as well, and the very end of my side skirt (closest to fender) is still bowed outward a little and I can't seem to fix it. I had to get an entire new knuckle setup and a new brake rotor.
I still don't know what happened that day and it might be that a 17 year old car had weak studs from being over tightened at some points.
Oh and also... I was making a 300 mile trip home and my wheel was making that crazy loud noise for almost an hour on the highway. Good thing I never stopped because when I got off the highway, the wheel flew off after starting up from the first red light I hit. I guess the momentum kept the wheel on the hub.

hmm.. i have some rota c8 and im using tuner lugs bought from autozone. the car rides fine under 50 mph, but right around 60+ the steering wheel shakes pretty bad. is it because of the lug type or lugs not tight enough?

I finger tightened my lugnuts and proceeded to go deliver food for 5 hrs....halfway through my wheel started feeling like it was square and then I realized what happened. Only lost 1 lugnut
tuner lug on stock wheels most likely.
i bought a midori that had rims on it which i put back to stock before leaving and it vibrated all the way back home 2 hours. I thought I had just forked over money for a busted car. drove it anyway for a while since it was at high speed only, one day at low speed wheel comes off studs broke, found out that it had a hubcentric ring that wasnt taken off with the rims. Fail.
