CRX with B18 & B20: Hood Clearance with Innovative Mounts
I'm sure this has been covered before, but I searched and googled with little answers.
I've read through Innovative's website and they claim:
Designed to fit all B-Series motors (B16, B17, B18, B20). Unlike other kits, no notching or trimming of the hood is required and even clears B20 engines.
I just wanted to hear some opinions of people using the Innovative mount kits.
Please state:
-your engine
-which version of the mounts you have: Billet or steel.
-what year the mounts were purchased (or specify you don't know or when you got the swap)
Don't bring Hasport mounts into this thread. I currently have a CRX wtih B18C and Hasport mounts and dislike how the hood used to rub and I had to cut the webbing.

I have innovative urethane mounts on my B18c in my 91 civic and there is no way the hood would close, but a CRX has more clearance.
each brand has different versions. old versions will hit the stock hood. newer ones sacrifice a bit of ground clearance for hood clearance
ebay mounts copy new versions, so the money saved can be put to better uses

i am running HCP mounts in my crx. had no issues with B18A1 and still have clearance with my LSV using the same mounts.

crx has its own hood.
otherwise how would hood clearances change when suspension geometry is the same, and the chassis mountings are the same?

EF? american is ED
I searched google, hatch and crx match. others have similar or same external dimensions, underneath, latches and hinges locations are different slightly
do a search?

Fact-
88-91 CRX and civic hatch use the SAME hood!
The sedan uses a different part number, as it is longer
As far as hood clearance goes, two other easy options are either a zc hood, or even an ef8/9 conversion
VIS also makes ans "SiR" style hood for usdm front end cars with the cowl front for extra clearance

Anyways, back on topic here.
How old (year) were your "old" mounts? Just curious.
I have one of these, and I'm still convinced it rubs in some very specific areas.

My mounts are from about 06. Great mounts. I can't complain. Just had them fitted with 75A bushings under warranty. I'll post pics soon of the damage to the valve cover.
The dreaded "fang marks"? I know them well. That's why I never put on my nice powder coated valve cover because I didn't want it to get wrecked (because I couldn't tell if my hood was still rubbing slightly, or not).
I love my CRX because it's so small. It also pisses me off, sometimes. Because it's so small, space is limited and it can be a PITA to make parts fit properly.

Just buy a knock off SiR style hood if you are so worried about clearance, companies like VIS make them with the raised area

with "I ALREADY HAVE ONE. IT STILL RUBS."

My old Hasport mounts were from 2001. The billet aluminum machined ones. Has their design changed to accomodate the b18 & b20 as of the last few years without hood rubbing?
My buddy has Innovative billet mounts from '10 in his 91 dx with B20 swap, no hood rubbing issues. It did rub a bit when he had the same mounts/hood with a B16.
Just switched from old school steel mounts to new billet mounts and now motor sits higher and closer to the front. Both mounts innovative B18c1
Now turbo setup does not fit and looks like it will rub the hood. Going to switching them back now I got $300 paper weights
