Code 20, anyone have this?
Ive been getting a code 20 for a long time now on my zc. Im using the 89 teg ecu. It dosnt bring on the check light, but I would like to figure out what it is. The code means "Electric load" and the Helms just says to send it to the dealer. Anyone seen this before and have any ideas?
Thanks
Thanks
Hmmm I have the same code with my Z-Dyne...
I figured it was from reloating my battery, or possibly a wire I spliced that's come apart.
Bugs me to have ANY CEL's, though

Code 20 is the Electonic Load Detector. It basicaly switches on and off the alternator for charging. It's located in the "C" shaped under hood fusebox on the passenger side shock tower. As far as the dealer tells me, you need to get a new fusebox to get the ELD. so it you can find someone that is selling theirs used and it still works good, you should be in business. HTH

Thats the only thing that I changed when my ecu was giving a code 20. I guess the problem could have been fixed way before then, but I just happened to reset the ecu when doing the starter.
you are showing a code 20 because there is a problem with your ELD (electric load detector).
Now seeing as you are from Vancouver, I am assuming that you have a Canadaian built Civic;
the problem is that the Canadian built vehicles didn't come with an ELD, hence the code 20.
Swap in an engine compartment fusebox that has an ELD (wire it in according to the manual, it's not hard)
and the code should go away. Worked on my PM7 ZC '91 Civic Si (now if I could just get it to idle).
good luck
