Icon6 Gutted the catalytic converter with fantastic results!

So my cat went bad and got all clogged up so i paid this redneck guy to do it for 50 bucks, and wow my car runs so much better, like i am pretty sure it has more power than it did out of the factory now and its completely stock. For example i can run in first at 3500 rpms and if i slam the gas my wheels will spin, and i have new yokohama radials, thats pretty damn good! i highly reccomend that you gut your cat if you have issues with it, unless youre a 1998 or newer cuz the obd2 has o2 sensors on the cat unlike the obd1 which has it before the cat!

Copious dyno results show that a test pipe on a stock B-series engine yields about 1-2 WHP. Gutting the catalytic converter would have a similar result. I'm sure that your car runs markedly better since the catalytic converter was previously clogged.

Gutting the cat will actually make less power than a proper good working cat due to the turbulance it causes. But yes is if the cat is clogged it will obviously run better gutted.

Honda changed to obd2 in 96+. not 98. it seems like you have more power because its unclogged, you didn't gain HP..

Not even just to the people behind you, you can smell it right in your own car.

If not he's an idiot, you could have sold the cat for at least $50, bought a test pipe for about $10 and profited the rest. Instead he lost $50.

How can I tell if my cat has been gutted? I tapped on it and it made a wind chime noise (catback aftermarket exhaust). I tapped on the resonator that's about a foot and a half downstream and it made a similar, but not exactly the same, noise. D16Z6, full 3 inch stainless exhaust, and a 4.5 inch fart cannon.

Ha, your sig quote was in a golden thread. Wasn't it that guy who wanted to figure out how to put the blue H emblem on his grill without gluing it?
