Default FNG Here, wanting to know about VX engine install to CRX

Hello, I am new to Hondas, other than offroad stuff, I have worked on them, but do not know much other than fixing them. Ok, I am looking at an 89 CRX roller, and I found a complete 92 or 93 VX engine and trans, with ECU and Harness. I can buy both of these cheaper than a running car, so this is why I am looking. I want a car that gets good gas mileage, this is why I am looking at this setup. I am trying to find out if this will work? I keep seeing people talk about engine numbers, and other things, and I have no clue what they are talking about. Has anyone done this, or does anyone know if this will work? Thank you

Yes it will. It will bolt right in, youll need to switch out the rear T bracket and the 88-91 driver side block bracket.

Not sure how the harness will work but if you want I know someone that can make you an OBD1-OBD0 conversion harness so you can use that engine with your current harness and have the VTEC wired in for optimal gas mileage.

That engine is OBD1 btw

That would be great, at least to find out about the harness. If you know someone that can make this easy for me, that would be great. I have way to many things going on with other peoples Porsche to even get to do my own projects, but it would be nice to have something that gets great mileage. After driving a friends HX, it made me start thinking about this. Doing research, I found that the HFs and VXs were the best mileage wise. It kills me to see some of the VXs going for so much money, and if I can build one on the cheap, great. It leaves more money for the gas hogs I have. Thank you

VX's are SUPER expensive. Im wondering if its cheaper to just buy a Dx and use the savings for gas.

Back to your question, if youre serious about the harness let me know. It will be an OBD0 harness with all the wires in the correct spot for VTEC, 2 wire IACV, etc etc. You wont need to cut, splice or run single wires. You install the harness on the engine, then plug it into the male plug on the passenger side shock tower, then on the ECU part, you plug in to pre tipped wires into the harness, then youre done. Seems complicated but its not, its much easier then moving wires around and running VTEC wires haha.

It comes with amazing instructions that make life so much easier, specially if you dont know about VTEC wiring.

Thats my DPFI to MPFI thread.

if its a stock HF, then you will need a stock harness for your car (if you dont already have it) and convert it to obd1. you cannot use the stock VX harness. if you need a harness for obd1 conversion, feel free to pm or txt me i build brand new engine harnesses. no cut and soldered wires here. i use brand new oem terminals on all my harnesses. only things i re-use are the actual sensor plugs.

OBD0 MPFI harness fully converted to obd1, also new ECU terminals so you just plug them in. lmk
