Need help with tire/rim size combo...please..
Hey guys, I've searched and searched and I've read the stickies and etc and I am still not sure what size combination to get..I have a 98 EK hatch lowered on H&R race springs (my front lip, SiR, is 4.75 inches off the ground - but gonna install HOP CTR lips tonight so might even be lower), currently on stock struts but gonna install Koni Yellows soon too..
I want to get Rota Slipstreams and Yokohama Advan Neova Ado8 tires. After all the calculations for sidewall height and all, I am nearing the conclusion of going with 15 inch rims and 205/50/15 tires.
Two concerns:
1. Will 205s be ok with 6.5 width rims? The store I'm getting them from told me they can only get 15x6.5 from their dealer..
2. Will this be too thick overall for wheel diameter? I read somewhere on ek9 forum, this guy said he has this combo and it rubs. Should I stick to 195/50/15 then? I kinda like the 205 look, a bit wider than 195. Any pros and cons to handling with 195 vs 205?
This is just for daily driving, only driven in the summer, parked in the winter. I'm not even swapped yet. I plan to put a K20 under the hood next year and I'm thinking that the weight of that will drop my front end even more and predispose me to rubbing. Will Koni Yellows enable me to increase my ride height a bit in case this happens? By how much? If not that much, maybe I should just stick with 195/50/15s to be sure?
Also, the Rotas available apparently come in only +40 offset..from the dealer..that's all they have for now apparently for a while..
p.s. please no comments such as "why are you getting rotas" etc.. so as not to derail the thread..I just like the design, it comes in flat black, and it's cheap..I wanted to get OZ Racing Chrono HT but they discontinued them and the new ones have rivets I don't like the way they look..all the other rims that I liked either didn't come in black or are only in 17 and up or both..

Maybe the wheel/tire forum will be able to help answer this a little better.
I know it's not the same car, but on my EH3 205's rubbed on hard cornering, while 195's did not, so I stuck with those.

195 will have a slight stretch to the tire nothing major
205 will be your best bet but if they rub just roll the fenders
I have 215 45 17 on my my stock rsx wheels(7"wide) im thinking of going 220 45's because i like the beefy tire look
