so i have a 97 Ek coupe and its been having idle problems lately and was wondering if someone could help me out with much needed answers... the car drive fine and also starts every time but once i go to neutral down a hill for instance, the idle goes to 1500 rpm until i come to a complete stop for a few seconds, also my idle can get pretty low at times out of the blue to were it feel like im about to stall.. any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Try cleaning your throttle body. It can also be that u have a iac valve that is dirty try cleaning that too. Check also if u have an fitv bcuz sometimes those cause problems too.

 

im having the same exact issue. i have gone thru pretty much every sensor as well as cleaned the iac valve, still with no luck. i have no dtc's either. i went through all components that affect idle control. such as tps, iac, ect, map, vss, and nothing seems to stand out as unusual. Any help would be great!

 

Fast idle thermo valve possibly.

 

Not on a 97.

Try cleaning the IACV report back.

Have you done any work to it recently?

Also, I'l be nice sence your new, but when asking questions we need to know the exact model. Not just EK!

 

Thanks to everyone who replied, and my motor is d16 y8 only thing I do to it is regular service. I will get back to you guys as soon as I diagnose the problem. Thanks again for all the tips and I'll be more specific about my car next time.
