Default jc whitney custom piping?

just curious if anyone has ever used the jc whitney piping to do their IC piping themselves. just want to see if anyone could give me the exact part # since they offer A LOT of different sizes and combo's. just wanna see which size of the the 180 degree u-bends is the best one to use..

EDIT: also, how mahy of the u-bends did u (or would u suggest) ordered to get the job done and which car did u do it on..thanks

Me and everybody else here used their bends. They're very nice...can't remember the name brand right now but it's quality stuff (not what usually comes to mind when thinking about the old million page black and white catalogs they used to print).

Tell us what car/motor you have and the dimentions of the IC, that will help a bit.

LOL they only sell steel there. I'm re-doing mine in aluminum and the cost is about 250-300. For steel it's about 80 bucks - you make the call!

i just heard jc whitneys were good and cheap..and i also found the link to the "team del sol homemade CAI" and i believe the jc whitney piping they made there should be the same for the IC piping also. so ill just use that,,ill try and find the part # they used later...

i already have a regular intake and ill just build the custom piping off that..and the IC im gonna use is probably a revhard IC (30x8x3.5) I THINK! i wont know until viren returns my email, if he ever does =/ (hello viren!)
it will go onto a b16a in a 89 hb if that helps any

If your intake is 3" like most you're going to be hurting for spool time.

You should be using 2-2.5" (2.5 at the very most) piping. When yo ubuy the bends, lfe will be easier if you look at your car and figure out that you need a 45 deg here, a 90 deg here, etc. It would be a nightmare making it all out of 180 deg bends!

I am wondering what size piping i should use. 2 or 2.5 and why. i would like to use 2 because that is the size my intercooler is but would 2.5 be better??

I'm wondering what size is best also. I'm thinking about running 2 1/4" pipes. I'd hate to use 2 inch after paying 150 bux for an oversize throttle body...

I found one place "magnum force racing" that has u-bends cheaper than JC.

$.02: The bends at whitney are great. know several who've used them for custom exhaust setups, downpipes, and the like.

All you have to do is sit in front of your car for 30 minutes or so and eyeball it. It's REALLY not difficult.

i can already imagine what pipes i need and which bends, but if someone has done it before, i could sure use his experience to find out the exact parts #'s or which parts i should watch out for.

but ill spend some time looking at my car..i know its not hard at all..but JC whitney has some many pipes, i dont want to order the wrong ones..or not order enough of a certain bend, etc

I found this while looking for intercooler info:

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=229356

One use their cold air intake and use hose coupler and make piping from cold air intake to intercooler, then needed piping from intercooler to turbo?
i am looking at a PWR i/c (20"x8"x3") and thinking of making custom piping or just use drag if possible..

Its so funny becuase a friend of mines who extremely knowledgeable with turbo hondas advise me against those aluminized steel piping because the end cuts tend to rust over time....

Then you should ask him why he is pumping water thru his IC piping. Is he running some kind of forced water induction? Does water burn better than air? What is his secret?

Seriously though, as long as they are not sitting in water they are not going to rust and will last a long, long time. All steel rusts eventually...
