91 hf hesitation/spuddering issue HELP
My 91 crx has a weird hesitation issue and sparatic vibration and i cant figure this one out, i have replaced the plugs just seems like its not getting proper fuel below 2800 rpm anything above 2800 it does just fine. I just dont like to run it that hard (daily driver); any input on this would help me immensly. Could it be a sensor, or maybe fuel filter/pump? it just started doing this out of nowhere when i left work friday. Thanks for any tips
I'm going to guess the filter, low rpms probably not pushing the fuel through the filter enough so it's getting slowed down from a clog, with the higher rpms it's probably pushing hard enough to get what fuel it can through the filter asap. Just my .02 guess.
could be a bad o2 sensor also. i replaced my o2 sensor with a universal style one from advance and it made the car a pain to drive. if i didnt rev it to 2k or more from a stop it would start bucking and wanting to die until i rev it higher. and giving it gas at low rpm also made it do this.
Really, a tune up, define tune up...? Yea maybe i should have put that i service my car regularly and do plugs, air filter and all scheduled maintaince as required as well as changing and replacing all fluids per spec. The issue at hand cant be anything that i would believe is in a regular tune up as everything is up to date and i mean as in like yesterday only thing i havent replaced is a fuel filter which is my next step.
Everything on the car seems fine, mounts(i say this because the car shakes in intervalls while spuddering), just replaced the clutch this weekend throwout bearing, pilot bearing, and flywheel so thats not it had everything tore down and apart and didnt see anything out of the ordinary so thats what leads me to think that its a sensor or something with the fuel input/filter.
When i hit the gas half throttle under 2800 rpm it smooths itself out, but 1/4 throttle and less under 2800 i have the hesitation/spuddering/shaking problem hope this help someone that can help me solve this. And just an FYI this problem started the day before i tore the clutch out so its nothing I personally did tearing everything down thought i had to clear that up for the next useless response saying ..."are you a mechanic?" Thanks
Also want to add that the car runs perfect at Idle no problems what so ever starts first crank everytime (knock on wood lol) The issue is only at 1200-2800 rpm in all gears. And if i hold the clutch in and slowly rev the motor very minimal hesitation if any at all (i would say no hesitation but extremely slight maybe due to wear and tear on 170,000 mile car) Reving the car fast at a stand still has no hesitation at all only if your really looking/feeling for it when reving it very slow.

Come on fellas are you really going to make me park this crx and make it a track queen and buy something else for a DD? Or fix it to give you guys a nod everytime you see a fellow ef on the road? TTT!!!

Or you can just sell me your hf tranny. But go replace that fuel filter, its <$10 anyways. Air filter maybe, doubt it though, check for a dead rat in the intake (if it's stock obviously) trust me i've seen it.
lol yea no rats like i said i check on the girl frequently as its my DD, but yea fuel filter is next step just wishing someone would say " hey thats not the problem, try this it worked for me"
I have a similar problem. Has followed me through a motor swap... I did my fuel filter around that time and it still happens. I'm not really that inclined to try fixing it now though as my next upcoming swap will pretty much replace EVERYTHING
Could it be the main relay I had the same problem with my dx I changed my filter twice ended up buying new main relay put some lucas in the gas it ran good after that
o ya check to if u can hear your fuel pump turn on when u turn the key to aux

Just some random thoughts since you aren't getting a CEL.
Did you happen to fill up on gas the day it started to happen?
Maybe bad gas.
Possible the catalytic converter starting to plug up.
Maybe an injector needs cleaning.
Distributor igniter might be on it's way out.
Try cleaning out the throttle body and intake manifold.
Any idea when the ECU switches from closed loop to open loop?
That might give a clue for a lazy O2.

Ive had a similar problem and dont forget to overlook the TPS sensor or in my case it was the whole throttle body. Mine was sticking and it did make it hard to take off from a stop smoothly, it would jerk at low rpms and do great at higher rpms. But what they said too fuel filter and motor mounts.
