Default Coil overs input

When I bought my civic it came with coilovers and lowering springs already installed, theyre nice n all but I probably have the most bumpy ride in town and I live in L.A. which is bumpy road capital but I was wondering If it was possible to change the springs to the stocks and keep the coilovers and if so will it give me a smoother ride?

No, you cannot put stock springs or any other type of OE-style spring (i.e. lowering springs) on adjustable coilover spring perches.

There's not even a remote guarantee that X spring will fit Y coilover sleeve.

Very true. Replace everything if you want to avoid headaches.

Good thinking, and if your looking for a smoother ride make sure you do research on spring rates prior to setting your mind on a coilover or strut/spring combo!!!!

Those are different cars, none of which belong to him.

Regardless, a coilover that breaks like that isn't a good product. If you think otherwise you are really really really dumb.

Those pictures show just how shitty D2 products really are.

i wasn't saying the product was any good...just saying for something that bad to happen it has to have hit something hard. Just driving down the street isnt going to shatter a top hat or rip the top hat out of the frame.

plus from the picture the person is ghetto rigging the suspension on a car it wasn't meant for by redrilling holes in the frame to accommodate the top hats.

How about the one were the piston snapped? How is that explained?

I have slammed into bumps/pot holes so hard I bent wheel's. And I have NEVER done anything like whats in those pictures.

dunno to tell the truth...but I can make up stories on how it can happen.

we all have our fair share of incidents..but i think the pictures above are the extreme cases. I for one am not supporting the products and probably never will but i think the pictures some extreme cases.

They very well could be the 'extreme' cases. however, how do you know you wont be the next one to have a problem like that.

The only way not to is to buy good quality parts the first time around.

Judging by the pic's the piston is rather large when compared to our cars, and it still snapped like that. I for one would never feel safe after seeing that.

I can't believe my eyes. You're actually defending faulty products for breaking even in accidents. The bent shock was actually a guy who was just drifting.

The forum I got the snapped shock rod from was a 240sx forum and the owner said he just hit a large pot hole and the shock rod snapped.

D2/Ksport are junk. Get over it. Shocks/top hats etc should hold up in an accident. Period. They shouldn't crumple like crispix.
