I have always seen it done and wanted to give it a try. Plus looking to drop weight on the Track car. The piping used was a eBay intercooler pipe kit, to help keep cost down. Virbrant mufflers and Vband. Hangers was aluminum rods from Lowes bent to shape.
I used a buddy place to build it since he had a lift and a better band saw than i did. Beside doing it on the back just sucks. The Welder used was a Miller Dynasty 200. I am a ok welder, get by for what i need to do. Not looking for a critique my weld here, as i know time and practicce will make me better. Well Enjoy
Ohh there is a link to a quick sound clip, not the best quality.

I haven't weighed it yet but my sone can lift it one handed. I say around 5-8lbs. My previouse exhaust weighed 29lbs. 3 inch SS with vibrant black muffler and resonator.
I would think if an intercooler can hold up to the abuse we put them through this should be fine.I think the only difference would be the thickness of the material and how that will affect how well it holds up?

I'll let you know how it will handle the heat after may 7. I have a track day and will get well over 2 1/2 hour of abuse.
The piping measure 1.5mm thick. I've talked to other who ran it on turbo set up and haven't had a issue. Time will tell

thumbs up for the diy way, looks like it will do just fine but be forwarned... as aluminum heat cycles (at temps an exhaust will see) it hardens and gets brittle... ask full-race about that.

Looks good man. I've been running an aluminum exhaust made from ebay intercooler piping for 2 years or so, so issues.
How does it sound with the 2 vibrant mufflers? I run a single dynomax stainless steel muffler currently, but have been thinking about changing to a pair of the vibrant aluminum ones (should be both lighter and quieter).
