Default Intermediate shaft not fitting

I bought an intermediate shaft for a prelude with a H22 online a while back. I was installing the engine and attaching the shaft when I quickly determined it was not the right shaft for my setup. I have an H22A with a M2S4 H23 prelude transmission. I chose this because it has a stronger midshaft than the accord models.

Now when I tested the insertion by flipping the bracket over, it went in easy and perfectly.

THe problem is that the bracket with the three bolt holes is too tall to allow the axle to slide in. When I measured it against the accord mid shaft, it was plainly clear and obvious the difference between the two.

Is there more than one prelude intermediate shaft?

What could be the problem?

Should I just go ahead and buy another one from street imports for $120?
