Default Z6 vs Ls

Hey I have a 91 crx si with a d16z6 and import showdown is coming up and my bro challenged me to a race there, he has a 94 ls with the usual headers intake and exhaust. What all would I have to do to my engine to make it fast enough to ensure a victory? Thanks in advance sn: my engine is stock aswell I jus have intake and headers

he's got ya killed with suspension. he might leave you from the launch & never look back.

ur gonna need a cam, stiffen up that rear suspension. check the little things like tire inflation/rotation. new oil, try some race gas, maybe a 80/20 mix of hightes and t114

but then again i know nothing about your tranny or your driving skills.

elaborate a bit more.

well his cut springs might hurt his launch time, i would set ur springs up so that when you rock back from the launch that it springs you back forward to the front wheels without alot of travel and bounce.. its really all about who leaves the line first when its a battle of 20 or less hp

i never thought about that.. see physics and whatnot coming into play i thought it was just about mechanics.. and if all it is is launch time then i should when then because he doesnt have good reaction time, i just didnt want it to be a situation where i win off the line then he comes around on me and wins

it rarely happends i have the same basic set up in my ef and i took an ls vtec and won granted the vtec didnt kick in his but that is the basic set upo of the ls they are good motors and every thing but with out the vtec i never liked em you should have no problem youll just have to ensure taht you get a good jump off the line in a drag that is mostly where things are won or lost another thing would be to check your tires and be ready for the torque steer last season i almost hit a wall when i wasnt ready for it and good tip is to no the exact point where your clutch lets go right befor you start to roll is where i hold mine if every thing is working properly and you have good shifts and you hit vtec you should win no problem my ef keeps up with the gsrs around here

Ive noticed that if you just have a good reaction time and dont miss any shifts than a d16 can easily keep up with a ls especially a bone stock one. I wouldnt even worry about the cam or gears just practice your launches and shifts and make sure your motor is running top notch and especially with better suspension than cut springs you should be able to pull on him no prob just make sure not rev out your motor cause ive seen many of guys race those single cam motors and rev the **** outta then then look back and see a cloud of smoke. Dont get me wrong those motors rev out all day i personally am a big fan of the d16, it just comes down to driving and knowing what your motor can do and cant! but have a blast and let us know what happens.

Not to your engine but his. Remove 1 of his spark plug and victory will be yours.

I have a GSR Integra and a EF sedan with a z6/si setup. I havnt been able to race them side by side yet but I am willing to say that because of the weight difference between the cars, my GSR is still faster, but not by much. You should take an LS to town in a CRX.

you will be fine. just don't miss any gears. it should be a close race though if both drivers are good.
