'99 Accord -- replace driver seat OR gas cylinder
Looking for guidance on replacing the front seat of my '99 Accord. I think the base is bolted correctly as it doesn't move when I mess with it. But I think one of the gas cylinders/actuators is broken, as the part under the front edge of the seat does not operate up or down (makes noise, no motion), and the seat will adjust easily manually in the manner the piston would usually make it move. It is becoming quite the headache rocking back and forth every time I start and stop.
I checked the this section of the board but saw no mention of this issue. I'm curious if I have to replace the seat or if I can replace the cylinder only.
Also, would you recommend trying to pull pieces off of a wreck at a junkyard? I also have to replace a broken turn signal switch lever (found another thread here covering this). Wondering if practicing on a wreck would help me not screw up mine.

HOLY ****!!! That is one expensive seat track.
Holy crap. Looks like I'll be acting like a psycho for the rest of the days of this car and ceaselessly rocking back and forth, back and forth... Unless I can find one at a salvage yard. Got a line on a shop manual, so I got a shot at not destroying the thing. Maybe.
Thanks very much for your help. I never know how you guys find the name for these things to look for.
Shame to learn it's a mechanical track system. I thought for sure it was a cylinder with a busted seal or something that I could swap out. @!#)($)@!#($

You may be able to swap it with a non-motorized Accord seat - like what's on the '99 LX.
It's just a basic seat, there's a lever you can pull up to manually slide the seat back and forth and there's a **** on the side to raise and lower if I remember right. It works just fine.
Personally, I've never liked motorized seats. I can get my manual seat adjusted quicker than if I had a motorized seat, and a motorized seat is just something else that can fail (like yours).

Helm manuals, best $76.90 I ever spent...
