I have a 1992 Honda Civic lx. The car has spark and just put a new fuel pump in and that didnt help and also i put a new main relay in. The check engine light isnt on . Just wondering if anyone has had this issue or think they have an idea of whats wrong. Thanks.

 

if the car turns over pull the throtle wide and pour half a shot glass of gasoline into it and take a towl and make it wet with gasoline and hold it on there and have someone start it at half throttle so it can breathe in the gas.

 

Does it turn over but not start? no turn over? Is the spark weak and not just existent? Have you checked fuel pressure?

 

Does the fuel pump prime?

Does the CEL work?

Is spark bright white at the plugs?

 

Very vague. It could be a lot of things really. It could be something really simple like a clogged fuel filter to the fuel mapping not telling the injectors to spray.

I'm willing to guess it's something fuel related if you say it has spark. Have you looked into if fuel is getting to the cylinder? Crank it a little bit and pop the plugs out and see if there is raw fuel. (I hate to sound like a Mr. Obvious but you know, have to cover bases.)

 

I have not check fuel pressure because i do not have a guage but i ruled out the fuel pump because i sprayed starter fluid in the intake. the check engine light does work because once in a while it would come on when driving it, the injectors r working because i put a screw driver up to them and listen to them click. fuel filter is 4 months old. I have tried the coil in the car and another coil that was on a distributor that originally came on the car. I am puzzled

 

what is the cel for when it comes on when driving? What code?
