alternator help!
i have a 91 EF with a B16A2 swap. i'm having trouble with the alternator charging. i put a new one, it lasts for about 3-4 days then stops charging again. any help would be great!
It's a obd0 harness with a 91 integra alt. Obd0 ECM. It seems like when I turn the headlights on it burns up the alt.

Is the car ever hard to start?
When you do a relocation kit the alternator has to work a bit harder to charge the battery all the way in the back of the car.
Any idea what gauge power wire you have? Making sure the grounds are in great condition might help too.
But first, I would get a voltmeter and see how many volts you have one the battery with the car off. It should be about 12. Then start the car and see how many volts you have - if it's 14 then your alternator is running. Try a different battery and see if that fixes the problem. If not, check power and grounds.

He could be running an OBD0 PR3.
Regardless, what does this have to do with his alternator? His 91 alternator should run fine regardless if he has an OBD0 or OBD1 ECU.

It shouldn't be running at 14v if your battery is at 12.
Try a different battery - could be your battery is tripping out.
If you still get 14v then I would consider your wiring to be the issue.

It's like 4 or 2 gauge...when I first put the alt on the meter read AT THE BATTERY 14 volts. If I kill the car it goes to 12.5. Does the battery series make a difference??
Ok just got home. Started it, turned the lights on, radio on...held fine at 14. Ran for about 5-10 mins (warmed up) and then I turned the blower on. Dropped to 13.5 then stopped putting out. Think it could be over loading the alternator?
There is a big problem if your alternator is at 14v (charging) while the battery doesn't need a charge (12v).
It means that your alternator is going to burn out from being in use when it shouldn't be.
Were you able to to try a different battery?

just wondering what were dealing with here..trying to get an idea what his wiring may look like. i realize the ecu has nothing to do with charging system
It so hard to help with these kind of problems unless we are there. Hopefully the tech figures it out my bet is a hot wire is grounding out. and burning up the alternator.
